Acquires Allmed 14th August 2024: Virginia International Logistics (“Virginia”) is today announcing the acquisition of Allmed, an Irish business providing European freight forwarding services. The acquisition brings together two family founded Irish businesses with complimentary capabilities, customer lists and service offerings into a group with combined Revenues of €70m.
The acquisition is subject to clearance from the Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
Virginia, which is backed by MML Growth Capital Partners Ireland, has a fleet of over 125 trucks and 360 trailers operating throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe, extensive warehousing facilities and services in Maghera, Co. Cavan, Kells, Co. Meath, Dublin and Tamworth (UK). Virginia also has a dedicated customs team and 24/7 logistics team.
Allmed has an extensive Freight Forwarding network and a 30 strong team of experienced and knowledgeable logistics and customer service professionals based in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny.

The acquisition has been supported by the existing Virginia’s shareholders, which includes MML Growth Capital Partners Ireland and the Cole family and the Group’s banking partner, Bank of Ireland.
Background
Allmed was founded by Alan Hoyne in 2002. In 2021 Alan transitioned executive leadership of the business to Managing Director, Martin Carr. Allmed employs over 30 people in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, providing groupage and full load freight forwarding of ambient and chilled products for customers in Ireland and the EU.
Virginia International Logistics was founded in 1985 and has its headquarters in Maghera Co. Cavan. The company employs over 240 people across 4 sites in Ireland and the UK. The company operates a fleet of over 125 trucks, 360 trailers and over 120,000 square feet of ambient warehousing space. MML Growth Capital Partners Ireland invested in the Company in 2022.
